Dry Skin
Dry skin, also known as xerosis, generally isn't a serious condition; however, it can be uncomfortable and unsightly. As the skin dries, cells contract, leading to fine lines and wrinkles.
Dry skin is typically caused by exposure to excessive heat or cold, low-humidity conditions (such as air-conditioned environments), under-hydration, aging, and even excessive bathing, which removes the skin's vital natural oils. Dry skin can be successfully treated with the proper combination of exfoliators and moisturizers. More serious conditions may require the medical intervention. The good news is ordinary dry skin can be come soft and supple in a matter of weeks with the right skin care.
