As a growing number of dermatologists sell skin-care products, here's how to tell whether your doctor knows best.

Other doctors with small product lines point to their patients' results as evidence of effectiveness. New York plastic surgeon Michelle Copeland, who offers her own line, says people need merely look at how her patients' skin looks: "All my products are clinically tested for safety, and my results for efficacy are seen in my large plastic-surgery practice," she says.
