Privacy Policy

Dr. Michelle Copeland Skin Care believes strongly in protecting the privacy of our customers and members of the public who visit our web site. Accordingly, we have drafted this statement to clarify our privacy practices for www.drcopelandskincare.com.

Because the Company is committed to your privacy, we have agreed to notify you of:

What personal information is being gathered about you.
How the information will be used.
Who the information will be shared with, if anyone.
Choices available to you regarding how collected information is used.
Safeguards in place to protect your information from loss, misuse, or alteration.
How you can update or correct inaccuracies in your information.

If you feel that the Company is not abiding by its posted privacy policy, you should contact Dr. Michelle Copeland.

Collecting and Using Information

The Company collects two types of information from visitors to our web site. The first type is "non-personal information." Non-personal information does not identify you individually, but provides us with information on how our web site is used. When a visitor arrives at our site, we collect the IP address, operating system, and browser software used. An IP address is not the same as an email address, but the IP address can tell us the user's Internet service provider, which may indicate the geographic location of the user. This non-personal information will help us track the number of visitors to our web site; the areas they visit; the browser, operating system, and domain names they use; and the name of the site that referred them to our web site. This data helps us to improve the usefulness of our site and will not be disclosed to third parties.

The second type of information is "personal information." By personal information, we mean data that is unique to you, such as your name, address, email address, credit card number, or telephone number. We request personal information from you in order to respond to your questions, to deliver a product or requested materials to you, or to administer contests and notify winners. If you provide personal information to us, we will not sell, license, or transmit this information outside of Dr. Michelle Copeland Skin Care without your consent, unless disclosure is required by law. Also, in some circumstances, we disclose this information to our contractors or agents to allow them to perform certain functions for us. However, they are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

Credit Card Transactions

If you place an order with us, our web site offers the use of a secure server. The secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you enter before it is sent to us. If you do not wish to enter credit card information online, call Dr. Michelle Copeland Skin Care at 866-833-SKIN to place your order by phone.

Cookies

Like most commercial web sites, we store an electronic "cookie" in the browser folders located on your computer. Our cookies do not contain personal data, but they do contain information that allows us to recognize repeat visitors, track your usage pattern and better serve you when you return to our web site. Most browsers will automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to reject these cookies. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site.

Email Communication

Should you send your questions or comments to us via email or online form, we will share this communication with our employees who are most capable of addressing your questions or comments. We will retain this communication until we address your question or comment, and then we may either discard or archive the communication. Please be aware that our email facilities do not provide for completely secure communications. Like most non-encrypted email communications, your email may be accessed and viewed by other Internet users while the email is being sent to us. For this reason, please do not use email to communicate information to us that you consider to be confidential.

Log Files

The Company uses IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Sharing

The Company will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. The Company may use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit-card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We may partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information, except for the purpose of providing these services.

Links to Other Sites

Our site contains links to other sites that might be of interest to you. However, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies of these other sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the Company.

Security

This web site strives to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the web site, your information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit-card number and/or Social Security number), that information is encrypted and protected with SSL encryption software. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just "surfing". While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also strive to protect user information off-line. Access to users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected screen-savers when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to your information. Furthermore, ALL employees are informed on our security and privacy practices. From time to time, our employees are reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers' information is protected. If our privacy policy changes, we will notify our employees of the change. Finally, the servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. If you have any questions about the security at our web site, you can send an email to customerservice@drcopelandskincare.com.

Correction/Updating Personal Information

If a user's personally identifiable information (such as zip code) changes, or if a user no longer desires our service, email us at customerservice@drcopelandskincare.com or call 866-833-SKIN.

Choice/Opt-out

Our users are given the opportunity to "opt-out" of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for the information. For example, our order form has an "opt-out" mechanism so that users who buy a product from us but don't want any marketing material can keep their email address off of our lists.

Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional materials from our partners may opt out of receiving these communications by replying with "unsubscribe" in the subject line of the email; email us at customerservice@drcopelandskincare.com or call 866-833-SKIN.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our home page. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have the opportunity to choose whether their personal information is used in this new manner.
