Dealing with the mask of pregnancy. |
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, melasma [brown discoloration] can affect up to 70 percent of all pregnant women to varying degrees. If, despite your best efforts, you still develop a pregnancy mask, "a three-step regimen [that includes] a cleanser, toner and pigment formula [is] ideal and helps to minimize the melasma of pregnancy," says Michelle Copeland, M.D. "Of course a moisturizer with SPF is also terrific." Practicing good skin care is a must and Dr. Copeland suggests, "This can be done in the morning and at night." |
