Diaz's Decision

Dr. Copeland weighs in on Cameron Diaz's potential rhinoplasty.

"I'm over it, I'm getting it fixed," [Cameron] Diaz, 34, says in the December issue of W. The actress has broken her nose no less than four times—most recently while surfing in 2003—and now her right nostril is completely blocked. Though in 2005 she said, "I wouldn't dream of getting it fixed because it's part of who I am," NYC plastic surgeon Michelle Copeland thinks Diaz's nose could use a tweak: "It is collapsed on one side and her tip is wide." Her advice? Restore symmetry and improve breathing with a closed rhinoplasty, done from inside the nose to avoid scarring (cost: $5,000 to $10,000). During the two-hour procedure, nose bones are broken then contoured and cartilage in the tip is reduced. Recovery takes about a week.
